Women's Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

At Massey & Waitakere Physiotherapy, we offer specialised pelvic health physiotherapy to support women of all ages through sensitive and often complex pelvic health concerns. Whether you're recovering from childbirth, managing bladder or bowel issues, or living with pelvic pain, our experienced and compationate specialist, Elizabeth (Liz) Costabeber, is here to help with care that’s respectful, discreet, and evidence-based.

You're Not Alone

Pelvic health issues are more common than many people realise. Around 1 in 4 New Zealanders over the age of 15 experience pelvic floor dysfunction, with symptoms often emerging or worsening during and after pregnancy. While these challenges can feel isolating or even embarrassing, you don’t have to put up with them or face them alone.

Conditions We Treat

Pelvic floor dysfunction can affect your daily life in many ways. Our specialised physiotherapist is trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Bladder issues - urinar incontinence, urgetncy, frequency, and overactive bladder
  • Bowel issues - constipation, bowel incontinence, and straining
  • Pelvic pain management - from post surgical to chronic pelvic pain
  • Pelvic organ prolapse - heaviness, pressure, or bulging sensations
  • Pregnancy-related concerns - pelvic girdle pain, abdominal seperation (diastasis recti), and postnatal recovery
  • Post-surgical recovery - following hystrectomy, prostate surgery, or pelvic repair procedures
  • Sexual dyxfunction - pain or discomfort during intercourse and vaginal tightness.

Our goal is to help you feel confident, informed, and in control of your body.

What to Expect

Your first appointment will start with a detailed consultation to understand your symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. With your consent, we may conduct internal or external assessments of your pelvic floor muscles. Treatment can include:

  • Pelvic floor muscle training
  • Breathing and relaxation strategies
  • Manual therapy
  • Education and lifestyle advice
  • Support with toileting, sexual function, and return to exercise.

Our goal is to help you feel confident, informed, and in control of your body.

Health Insurance for Women's Pelvic Health
